Don’t Take Our Word For It
Q: Why do you volunteer here?
Male Volunteer: “I’ve been doing this for about 10-12 years. I’m retired, I figured it’s a good thing to do. I enjoy helping out. There are too many people who need. I’m not even from this township; I come all the way from Orland. “
Q: Why do you volunteer with the food pantry?
Female Volunteer: “I enjoy the comradery of the people I work with [here]. You get to see how much this really helps people. There are some elderly clients who are living off of social security & you wonder how they can pay rent so at least I know I can help by giving them some food; at least I know they’re eating something. All of it is so uplifting. It is sad because this is happening but on the other hand it’s uplifting because you are helping people and making a difference.”
Q: How did you get started with the pantry?
Male Volunteer: “My mom used to golf with the lady who ran it. My mom suggested since I was retired that this would be good for me. So I started working three times a week and then it became a good habit. Now I’m just helping out. I really enjoy it because it gives me something to do and I know I’m doing something good.”
Q: Has the LFFP helped you? If so, how?
Fish Food Pantry Client: “Oh yes. I can get snacks and food. I have kids & they can get them for my kids. It helps out a lot; I just come when it’s needed.”
Q: How has the food pantry helped you?
Fish Food Pantry Client: “[The Fish Food Pantry] makes all the difference in the world. It allows [my mom] to pay other bills. My mom is elderly with Parkinson’s’ and coming here allows her to stay in her house.”
Q: How has your experience(s) been with the LFFP?
Fish Food Pantry Client: “The [volunteers here] are helpful and very active and eager to run a place like this.”
